Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are non-permanent gel-like substances (hyaluronic acid) that are injected below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, lift cheeks, increase the fullness of lips or even fill in scars. Results are immediate and long-lasting, with increased elasticity and volume visible for up to two years. Dermal fillers can be hyaluronic acid or calcium-based, with the latter providing an additional stimulation to the body to produce skin-strengthening collagen.

I have completed an intensive two-day training session with international aesthetics expert Dr Mauricio de Maio, on the correct usage of his pioneering MD Codes. These provide a series of precise injection points to restore lost volume and elasticity in a natural and long-lasting way.

ULTHERAPY

Ultherapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses ultrasound technology to lift the neck, chin and brow, and improve lines and wrinkles in the upper chest. Approved by Health Canada, the ultrasound machine enables the provider to see specific areas under the skin’s surface containing the same layers of weakened collagen that are often targeted during cosmetic surgery. By delivering ultrasound energy to these areas, the procedure stimulates the body’s regrowth of fresh new collagen -- the protein responsible for providing structure to the skin. 

Unlike many medical cosmetic procedures Ultherapy does not cut or pierce the surface of the skin, and patients rarely require any downtime following the procedure. A single treatment is usually sufficient in a year, with positive results developing over 2-3 months following the procedure as new collagen is produced by the body. The result is a gradual lifting and tightening of the skin as the targeted layers beneath the surface heal naturally.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections

PRP is a rapidly growing natural treatment used for facial rejuvenation, hair regrowth, and the healing of a variety of soft tissues of the body.  A small sample of blood is taken from the patient, a centrifuge is used to separate the super-concentrated platelet cells rich in healing properties and growth factors, and the plasma is re-injected in targeted areas for natural facial rejuvenation.

PLASMA RICH FIBRIN (PRF) INJECTIONs

Closely related to the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) procedure, Plasma Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a second generation technique that spins the patient’s own blood in a centrifuge to isolate components of the blood that are responsible for body tissue strengthening and regeneration. 

Spun at a different speed than PRP, the plasma obtained in PRF contains additional components of the blood--white blood cells, mesenchymal stem cells and a higher concentration of growth factors--that contribute to more rapid healing and benefits that last longer. PRF can be used as a standalone treatment to create a youthful look, or post-surgically to accelerate healing and improve surgery results.
